Vaccinations At Nursing Homes To Begin Today

Ohio will begin vaccinating nursing home residents and staff today , getting a jump on the rest of the nation thanks to a federal program.   Acceleration comes as a record 247 residents died in the week ending Tuesday.  Ohio Governor Mike DeWine says these vaccinations will be handled a little differently.

DeWine says the four pharmacies are scheduling the on-site vaccinations at nursing homes, starting with 10 sites today. In Columbus, Walgreens will begin vaccinations today at Crown Pointe Care Center, Highbanks Care Center, and Woodview Care and Rehabilitation.  There have been 3,992 deaths from COVID-19 in nursing homes and long-term care facicltiies since the beginning of the pandemic.  There have been 442 in Franklin County, the largest number in the state.
