WCBE's Thanksgiving Day Programming 2013

Celebrate this Thanksgiving Day with a cornucopia of great radio programming on WCBE, filled with our annual turkey day tradition,  an exciting locally produced music special, and more!

9AM-11AM Third Coast Audio Festival: The Third Coast International Audio Festival brings featured documentaries, all winners of the 13th annual TC / Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Competition, that demonstrate just how powerful radio can be. Innovative and insightful, the stories will engage, provoke, entertain, and transport listeners, proving that all you need to discover new worlds is...a little box and an antenna.

11AM-1PM Turkey Confidential: WCBE continues its Thanksgiving tradition with Turkey Confidential! Hosted by the Splendid Table's Lynne Rossetto Kasper, this annual live call-in show is designed to bail you out of any last-minute kitchen emergencies and provide a backdrop as you and your family prepare for the big day. The  guests for this year will be Mario Batali, PatiJinich, Ted Allen, Alexandra Guarnaschelli and Michael Pollan. You can call in during Turkey Confidential at (800) 537-5252 with your questions! Read more...

1PM-2PM Making AJoyful Noise:After the turkey is in the oven, join WCBE's evening announcer Wayne Self, in making a joyful noise with the David Murray Infinity Quartet, featuring Grammy-winning singer, and Canton Ohio's own Macy Gray. Recorded live at Shadowbox Live in the Brewery District, this is a show you don't want to miss! Get your holiday season off on the right foot, the toe-tapping one! Learn more about the performers...

2pm-3pm The Band Radio Special:  The Band co-founder and songwriter Robbie Robertson sits down with host Mike Etchart for a candid, insightful and revealing conversation on the  history and dynamics of the group, and the inspiration and stories of some of their best known songs, like "The Weight", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and many others that are interspersed throughout the program. Robbie also discusses the original influences of The Band and their music, and why their sound continues to influence contemporary groups like The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons.

Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for listening to central Ohio's NPR station, 90.5 FM & HD Columbus, 106.3 FM in Newark!
