Youngstown Residents To Vote On Fracking

Youngstown City Council last night approved placing an anti-fracking amendment on the May 7th ballot.The city charter amendment would ban the use of the environmentally damaging natural gas drilling technique in the city. Youngstown Law Director Anthony Farris says the vote was forced by a group called Frack Free Mahoning Valley, which collected 4-thousand petition signatures to get the measure onto the ballot. The state regulates drilling, and city officials say the ban would probably be unenforceable. The activist group disagrees.
