During a campaign stop hosted by concrete contractor Nickolas Savko Monday in Columbus, Vice President Mike Pence criticized Mayor Andy Ginther's removal of the Christopher Columbus statue from the City Hall grounds.

The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board says the statue of Christopher Columbus will not be removed from the front of the Statehouse until at least 2025.

The Columbus Art Commission has approved the removal of the Christopher Columbus statue from the City Hall grounds, in response to Mayor Andy Ginther’s call last week.

A Columbus man has filed a lawsuit to block the City of Columbus from removing the Christopher Columbus statue from the city hall grounds unless city council takes legislative action. 

Less than a week after Columbus State Community College announced it was removing its statue of Christopher Columbus, the city says it will do the same, taking down the statue in front of City Hall.

The statue on the Broad Street side of City Hall and another on the CSCC campus were vandalized Tuesday night.  A third statue of the explorer stands at the Ohio statehouse.

Mayor Andrew Ginther says it's time to remove the statue many see as a symbol of "patriarchy, oppression and divisiveness".

Columbus State Community College will remove the statute of Columbus that has stood on the grounds since 1988.

The 38th annual Columbus Italian Festival takes place this weekend in Italian Village. Events begin this afternoon.

Akron City Council last night rejected legislation that would have named the second Monday in October as Inigenous People's Day.

The City of Oberlin will celebrate the second Monday in October as Indigenous People's Day instead of the federally recognized Columbus Day holiday.

Dozens of protesters gathered in front of Columbus City Hall on Saturday to call for a statue of Christopher Columbus outside of the building to be taken down.
