An audit has found an Ohio State University center intended to support sexual assault survivors failed to report 57 potential felonies to law enforcement as legally required during the three years it was open.  

No one ever shows up at brunch and says, "Oh my gosh, I was so sober last night!"

Risky behavior draws attention. As a result, people tend to assume that everyone else is doing it more than they really are.

But, over the last two decades, research on college campuses has shown that giving students the real facts about their peers reduces unsafe drinking. This approach is called positive social norms. It works because of a basic truth of human nature: People want to do what others are doing.

A federal appeals court has ruled in favor of a male student who says he was unfairly disciplined by Miami University's sexual-assault policy. 

Jessica Ladd was sexually assaulted while at Pomona College, just as one in five college women are. She says she found the reporting process, "more traumatic than the assault" itself. She felt "like I didn't have control. A lack of agency. I wasn't believed, and ended up regretting reporting."

The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati has agreed the University of Cincinnati should not have suspended a student accused of sexually assaulting a fellow student.

The Department of Education will change its approach to campus sexual misconduct and begin a public notice and comment process to issue new regulations, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced today. In a speech at George Mason University's Antonin Scalia Law School, DeVos decried "a system run amok," "kangaroo courts" and repeatedly emphasized the plight of the accused. "One rape is one too many ... one person denied due process is one too many," she said. Outside, protesters yelled, "Stop protecting rapists!"

A former Ohio State University drum major instructor accused of raping a female student has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual battery.  

Ohio State University says it is undertaking several initiatives to reduce sexual assaults on campus, including mandatory awareness training for all freshmen next year.

An Ohio State University task force on sexual violence says more than 38 percent of students report being victimized.

The U.S. Department of Education has agreed to close a four-year investigation into Ohio State University's handling of campus sexual abuse allegations.
