The Ohio Board of Pharmacy is fining Mount Carmel Health system 400 thousand dollars for violating state pharmacy law.

The Ohio Board of Pharmacy is recommending disciplinary measures against the licenses of three pharmacists at Mount Carmel West Hospital connected with the investigation of Doctor William Husel. 

Columbus-based Mount Carmel Health System says the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has accepted its plans to fix issues at Mount Carmel West, East and Grove City hospitals. 

Already facing over two-dozen wrongful death lawsuits, Mount Carmel Health Systems has placed more employees on leave and changed key leaders at Mount Carmel West, where nearly all those deaths occurred.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have notified Columbus-based Mount Carmel Health that Medicare will stop paying for care at two hospitals where 34 patients died after a doctor ordered excessive doses of fentanyl unless the system quickly submits a plan that meets the agency's approval.

A new wrongful-death lawsuit alleges a Mount Carmel Hospital patient was given a lethal painkiller overdose weeks after concerns were raised about the doctor who ordered the medication.   


Two new lawsuits have been filed against Mount Carmel health system and the doctor under investigation in dozens of questionable deaths.

Two more lawsuits are alleging hospital patients were negligently or intentionally given lethal doses of pain medicine ordered by an Ohio doctor without the families' knowledge.

The Ohio Medical Board has declined to publicly comment on the former Mount Carmel West physician accused of ordering excessive doses of fentanyl for 27 patients without their families' knowledge. 

A fourth wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against Mount Carmel Health System and a now-fired doctor accused of prescribing 27 near-death patients fatal doses of fentanyl without their families' knowledge. 

Attorneys representing families of Mount Carmel West patients who died after receiving excessive doses of fentanyl have identified the youngest patient to date. 

A third wrongful death lawsuit has been filed alleging a doctor at Mount Carmel West hospital caused a patient's death by improperly prescribing a lethal dose of fentanyl. 

A lawsuit filed Monday alleges a doctor, nurse and pharmacist at Mount Carmel West gave excessive and fatal doses of the powerful opioid fentanyl to over 20 patients over a five year period.

Grove City police have identified the contract worker killed Wednesday in a construction accident.
