State budget director Kimberly Murnieks says the DeWine Administration is seeking pay freezes and cuts for state employees as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to harm tax revenues. 

The state says Ohio finished in strong financial position at the end of the most recent fiscal year, a good sign for the upcoming two-year budget.

The state budget office says if voters approve Issue 1 in November, it will cost local communities more money for a variety of reasons. 

There are as many as 170 thousand Ohioans who abuse or are addicted to opioids, according to a recent study from Ohio State University’s Swank Program in Rural-Urban Policy.

The state says its budget projections for last month were on target.
