Ohio Public Health Advisory System

Franklin County has returned to the highest level of threat on the state's color-coded Public Health Advisory map.

Ohio's coronavirus picture is getting darker, as three more counties were raised to the highest level of public health threat, six more turned red, and the state reported the second highest daily count of new COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Even with incomplete numbers caused by an overloaded system, the number of COVID-19 cases in Ohio continues to surge, and Franklin County has become the first in the state to hit the highest level on the state's public health advisory map.

Franklin County is back on the state's watch list as the number of COVID-19 cases continue to surge across the state.

Ohio Thursday reported a new record number of COVID-19 cases, with 2,425 in the past 24-hours - surpassing the previous record set Wednesday.

The number of cases of COVID-19 in Ohio continues a recent upward trend, with 1,327 new cases reported in the past 24-hours, and 13 deaths.  

Franklin County is no longer a red level threat for coronavirus, according to state health officials, for the first time since the public health advisory system was developed.  

As the Ohio Department of Health reported the second highest single-day total of COVID-19 cases, Governor Mike DeWine ordered mandatory face masks for the entire state beginning Thursday at 6pm.

A total of 12 Ohio counties are now at a level three public health advisory, triggering the state's public health order mandating masks.
