Columbus City Council last night rejected placing two ballot initiatives before local voters this fall. 

The Franklin County Board of Elections says the group seeking to place a repeal of Columbus'  ticket tax on the ballot failed to collect enough valid petition signatures to put the issue before voters this fall.

An advocacy group plans to submit over 18 thousand petition signatures to the city clerk today seeking to ask voters to overturn Columbus' new ticket tax.  

The City of Columbus says those who purchase tickets for entertainment before July 1st will not have to pay the new ticket tax.  

A group fighting Columbus' five percent ticket tax says it has collected enough petition signatures to put the tax before the voters. 

Opponents of the recently-passed pair of ticket taxes in Columbus are planning a charter amendment to block them from taking effect and considering litigation.

In their final meeting of the year, Columbus City Council members last night approved the adoption of two 5 percent ticket taxes to fund the arts and Nationwide Arena improvements.
