The Norton woman whose scalp was ripped off in a workplace machine accident has been released from a hospital. It happened July Second as 25-year-old Monica Thayer was clearing out a machine at the J-R Engineering plant in Barberton. Surgeons reattached 75 percent of her scalp, but plastic surgery will be needed in the future. Federal regulators are investigating the cause of the accident.
