The Capitol Square Review and Advisory Board has approved placing
a Holocaust memorial on an open area of the southwest corner of the Statehouse grounds. The 2 million dollar project pushed by Governor John Kasich will funded by private donations. It will be the first Holocaust memorial at any statehouse in the nation. The board will now field proposals from artists. The field will be narrowed by a 19-member committee that includes a Holocaust survivor, a World War II veteran, and educators. Ground breaking is expected to happen next spring, with completion slated for 2014.
