Medina Schools Chief Returns Retention Bonus

The uproar over an 83-thousand dollar retention bonus paid to Medina schools Superintendent Randy Stepp appears to be over. Stepp returned his bonus late yesterday, as well as merit raises worth 36-thousand-dollars a year.

But resident Ron Holzman says Stepp returned the money because of pressure from parents and teachers.

Teachers are in the process of voting on a new contract agreement with the district, which has already cut its staff of instructors. The district has also placed an operating levy on the May ballot.
