Dave Leggett, the Most Valuable Player in Ohio State's 1955 Rose Bowl win over Southern California that clinched a national championship, died Tuesday at the age of 79 after a long illness.Leggett helped coach Woody Hayes win his first national championship by passing for a touchdown, rushing for another, recovering a USC fumble and leading a 77-yard, fourth-quarter drive for the game-winning score. He played briefly in the NFL for the Chicago Cardinals and in the Canadian Football League before working in investments and financial planning.
