DeWine Rejects School Prayer Amendment

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has rejected a petition seeking to ask Ohio voters to approve school prayer. DeWine blames a technical flaw, saying it did not include the language of the proposed constitutional amendment and summary, and did not contain the signature of a circulator who must attest to witnessing signatures. His office did not review the more than 16-hundred signatures submitted for certification. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled school prayer violates the Constitutional separation of church and state.
