Local Motel Must Be Sold Or Torn Down

A Franklin County judge today ordered the owners of a closed East side motel to sell the blighted property or tear it down. Environmental court judge Harland Hale says Motel One on East Main Street is a nuisance, and the owners have 6 months to raize the property or one year to successfully complete a court-approved sale. Columbus Police have been called to the motel 5 hundred times in the last seven years to deal with complaints of drugs, prostitution, and other crimes. The judge says the motel is also in violation of state fire codes.
