ODOT Meets Federal Stimulus Mandates

Ohio Inspector General Randall Meyer says the Ohio Department of Transportation successfully met mandated provisions of the federal economic stimulus package requiring infrastructure projects to be "shovel ready." State lawmakers required Meyer to review the use of funds Ohio received. Meyer says the department got more than 1 billion dollars in stimulus money for transportation infrastructure projects. At least half of the money had to be used for projects that could be started in less than six month, a mandate Meyer says the department met.
