Stabbing Suspect Committed To Mental Health Facility

A man accused of stabbing four people in an East Gay Street building last year has been found not guilty by reason of insanity. A judge yesterday ordered 38-year-old John Mallett be committed to a Columbus forensic psychiatric facility. Prosecutors say the March 2012 attacks appear to be a random assault on people inside and outside of a downtown Columbus trade school. Mallett was in and out of mental health facilities and jails until January 2012, when he was placed on a bus and sent to Columbus from Tennessee.
