A study conducted by Columbus Public Health shows more than 60 percent of adults in Franklin County are considered overweight or obese. And researchers at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute say the longer a person is obese, the higher the risk for developing cardiac problems. Researchers followed more than three-thousand people for three decades. 40-percent of study participants became obese, and a third showed signs that could lead to heart disease. Cleveland Clinic physician Leslie Cho says the study shows why losing weight is important.
