Columbus police are investigating the shooting of a man by an officer during a traffic stop at Mooberry and South 18th streets yesterday. Police say 27-year-old Orlando Smith was shot twice by an officer when he stepped out of his car and brandished a gun. The officer was not hurt. Smith is hospitalized in stable condition. Police Chief Kim Jacobs says investigators will examine whether Smith is connected with three area shootings last week.

Two teens have been arrested in connection with one of the shootings, and are suspected in the other two. Police are also searching for other suspects.
