A Mount Vernon man is in custody awaiting charges after a nearly five-hour standoff yesterday. Police say Dwayne Thomas barricaded himself inside his Newark Road home when officers attempted to serve an eviction notice. Thomas allegedly had a gun in his hand when the papers were served, and had dozens more stashed inside his house.
