Corporate Columbus & Unions Bankrolling CCS Levy Campaign

Some of Columbus' largest employers are helping fund the Columbus City Schools' levy campaign. Finance reports show Nationwide Insurance, American Electric Power and L Brands are among the donors who have pumped 2.3 million dollars into the campaign. Late last year, Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman formed a commission comprised primarily of business leaders designed to improve local education. The levy request would, in part, fund charter schools. Other donors include a subsidiary of the Dispatch Printing Company, Cardinal Health, Huntington Bank, the Scotts Company, and unions representing teachers and other district workers. Cardinal's CEO chairs the commission.
