Crash Injures OHP Sergeant, Motorist

The State Highway Patrol says a trooper at the scene of an accident on I-70 near Springfield was struck by a passing vehicle early this morning. Sergeant Erika Englund is hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The Patrol says Englund was helping 56-year-old Gayle Harris, who lost control of her vehicle and crashed in a median near the Route 72 exit when another driver spun out and hit them. Charges are pending against that driver, 27-year-old Mohaddisa Suchedina, who was not injured. Harris is also hospitalized. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
