Federal prosecutors say a Toledo man who pleaded guilty to having a stockpile of weapons and ammunition wanted to start a race war. Court documents show Nazi sympathizer Richard Schmidt planned to kill people because of their race, religion and ethnicity. Schmidt is due to be sentenced next month after pleading guilty last summer to possession of firearms and trafficking in counterfeit goods. Prosecutors charged him nearly a year ago after finding weapons inside his sports memorabilia store in Bowling Green.
