Akron Public School district officials have fired the teacher accused of posting racists messages on a social media website in October. Superintendent David James says the messages by 51-year-old David Spondike, who was suspended from his job as a music teacher at Firestone High School, are against district policies.

Spondike initially denied making the posts, but later took responsibility in writing.
