25 Ohio prisoner advocates and friends and family members of longtime inmates protested on Christmas Day outside of the state parole board in downtown Columbus. The Cincinnati-based Universal Support Network is condemning the imprisonment of 35 hundred inmates before a law passed in 1996 requiring flat prison sentences of definite amounts of time, as opposed to sometimes-broad ranges under the previous law. The group is condemning the parole board for not releasing more so-called "old-law" inmates. The parole board has yet to comment.
