Powell police are warning residents about a telephone scam accusing people of missing jury duty. Police say several residents received calls this week from a man saying they skipped jury duty, and must pay fines of 500 to 825-dollars by money order. The potential victims say they were threatened with arrest if they failed to pay up. Police say court officials do not call to ask for personal information. Emails making similar claims have also been distributed by scammers around the country.
