Newark Council Approves Firefighters Union Contract

Newark City Council has approved a new three year contract with the firefighters union.Under the contract recommended by a state fact-finder called in when talks failed to produce a deal, firefighters will get raises of 1.5 percent in the final two years. One Republican council member says the three new Democratic council members who voted in favor of the contract accepted campaign donations from firefighters totaling 55 hundred dollars.
