Fifth Third Told Creditors Some Customers Are Bankrupt

Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bancorp has notified some customers it mistakenly told credit reporting agencies they had filed for bankruptcy. The company says what it calls "a limited number" of customers were affected by what it blames on a systems change late last year. The bank pledges to "ensure that no customer will suffer a negative impact."
