U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio plans to tour a Veterans Affairs clinic in Columbus this morning and meet with area veterans.
The Republican will discuss a backlog of V-A benefit claims and reports of fraudulent management of VA medical appointment records elsewhere during today's visit. Portman also plans to discuss a bill he has sponsored to improve the way the military identifies and assesses mental health issues. Portman also speaks at the Columbus Metropolitan Club this afternoon on the topics of poverty and the state's drug epidemic.
