Columbus Teen Sentenced For 2013 Drug-Related Slaying

Columbus Division of Police

A Columbus teen was sentenced today to 17 years in prison for killing a drug user in 2013. The case of 16-year-old Joseph Reeder was transferred from juvenile to adult court in January. He entered an Alford plea to charges of killing 64-year-old Anthony Hines at his mother's East side home in February of 2013. Reeder says he acted in self-defense. Prosecutors say Reeder robbed the victim, who had come to the home to purchase marijuana from the mother's boyfriend.
