Husted Refers Elections Law Violation Claims Against Issue 3 Petitioners To County Prosecutors

Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has referred alleged violations against a group supporting Issue 3 on Tuesday's ballot to Delaware County Prosecutor Carol O'brien. Husted says the county board of elections investigation found potential election law violations by The Strategy Network, which circulated Issue 3 petitions. Among the claims were signatures on petitions that appear to be "non-genuine," and irregularities in voter registration information. Husted says the investigation was separate from a statewide probe he started. ResponsibleOhio, the group backing the marijuana legalization amendment, says it "has always followed the letter of the law when collecting petition signatures."
