Columbus City Council last night approved an 8.9 million dollar contract to demolish old Fire Station 2 on East Fulton Street and build a new facility. Deputy Columbus Public Safety Director Dan Giangardella says the work will replace a decades-old building.

Giangardella says a Heath company was the third highest of the five bidders for the contract.

Giangardella says the facility will be staffed by those that were moved from old Fire Station 2 earlier this year to Fire Station 3 on Greenlawn Avenue.
