Jury Deadlocks On Verdict In Slaying Of Pedestrian

Columbus Division of Police

A mistrial has been declared in the case of a Columbus motorist charged with hitting and killing a pedestrian. A jury deadlocked this week on a verdict in the case of 42-year-old Dennis Lawson. He told the jury he was in fear for his life when he hit and killed 37-year-old Justin Tyler in an east side alley last July because the victim was armed. Prosecutors say Lawson and Tyler were arguing ten days before the victim was killed. A new trial date is pending.
