Newark Man Sentenced For Locking Child In Basement

A Newark man charged with repeatedly locking the 6-year-old son of his girlfriend in an unfinished basement will serve four years in prison after pleading no contest to a child endangering charge. 39-year-old Joshua Bergeron will also serve an additional two years after pleading no contest to a weapons charge. The child's mother, Angel Abrams, is scheduled to be tried in May. The boy is in the custody of children services.
