More Local Youth Shot This Year

Local health officials report an increase in the number of young people being shot and wounded this year. They can't explain why.  As of October, Children's Hospital in Columbus has treated 58 patients under the age of 21 for gunshot wounds, the highest figure in five years. Columbus Public Health plans to hire a part-time epidemiologist next year to monitor neighborhood violence, and may begin to track shooting-related injuries in the future.
