An Ohio law taking effect today requires drivers to allow at least 3 feet of space when passing bicyclists. Some cyclists say it's tough to enforce and not a strong deterrent. Some Ohio cities, including Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland have similar requirements in place. Previous Ohio law required allowing a generic "safe distance." Ohio is one of more than 25 states setting the distance specification.
