A now-fired Newcomerstown police officer has been sentenced to three months in jail for shooting himself last April and falsely claiming he'd been wounded during a traffic stop. 38-year-old Bryan Eubanks must also perform community service, pay fines and make 45 hundred dollars restitution. His attorney says the shooting was a suicide attempt and Eubanks' actions resulted from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Prosecutors say Eubanks' actions were not necessary.
