Man Convicted Of Killing Newark Student Granted Early Release

Akron Police Department

A University of Akron student convicted of stabbing and killing his roommate following an alcohol-fueled argument over fast food has been granted early release from prison.

24-year-old Kendal Scheid was sentenced to three years for killing 23-year-old Duncan Unternaher  of Newark in 2016. The judge had said she would let Scheid out early if he behaved behind bars. Prosecutors and Unternaher's family objected to the release.
