Two Ohio Communities Approve Plastic Bag Bans

Two governmental bodies on Tuesday approved legislation banning the use of plastic bags.

The Cuyahoga County Council has banned single-use plastic bags at stores, becoming the first county in Ohio to do so. It takes effect in January. Bexley City Council approved a similar measure, which also takes effect in January. State lawmakers are considering a bill that would block communities from enacting such bans. Supporters cite environmental concerns. Opponents cite costs to businesses.
