Ohio's unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7 percent for the month of May. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says 405 thousand people were without work last month, an increase of 5 thousand. The department says jobs were added in several sectors, including professional and business services, government, educational and health services, construction, and hospitality and leisure. Ohio's rate has consistently remained below the national level, which is currently 7.6 percent. The Labor Department says Ohio is one of eight states that saw jobless rates hold steady. Unemployment rates fell in 25 states and rose in 17 others. Employers added jobs in 33 states last month. The biggest gains were in Ohio, Texas and Michigan. Nationally, the economy added 175 thousand jobs in May.
