Proposal Would Block Immigrant Students From Paying In-State College Tuition

Two Republican state lawmakers are proposing a measure overturning a recent decision by the Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor allowing young immigrants with temporary legal status to pay in-state tuition rates at public colleges. Representatives Matt Lynch and Wes Retherford call the decision egregious and say it will cost taxpayers millions of dollars. Most of the state's two- and four-year public colleges have previously charged students lacking permanent legal status tuition rates much higher than what other Ohio students pay.
