Recount Shows Delaware County Mall Issue Lost At The Polls

The controversial plan to build an outlet mall in Delaware County will move forward. Delaware County elections officials say a recount of a referendum opposing the mall lost by the same 20-vote margin it received on election day. Some Berkshire Township residents put the referendum opposing the project along I-71 near Routes 36 and 37 on the ballot. The election day results were not close enough to trigger an automatic recount, but mall opponents circulated a petition in order to trigger one. The opponents paid for the recount. Construction of the mall expected to begin next year.
