2014 Columbus Capital Improvements Budget Released

The city of Columbus plans to spend 275 million dollars this year on new infrastructure projects and equipment purchases. The newly released 2014 Capital Improvements budget calls for a new administration building downtown, 25 new snowplows, a new Glenwood Recreation Center on the Hilltop and improvements to city parks and pools.

Columbus Finance Director Paul Rakosky says the city plans a 57.3 million dollar reconfiguration of the City Hall campus. That includes replacing an aging building with one that would house several city departments.

Deputy Columbus Public Service Director Steve Wentzel says the city also plans 33 million dollars worth of street and alley resurfacing.

The plan also calls for building more than 4 miles of bikeways, and replacing a fire station on East Fulton Ave.
