Over Three Dozen Cases Possibly Affected By CDP Crime Lab Error

Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien says at least 38 closed cases could be affected by a DNA-related mistake at the Columbus Police crime lab. O'Brien says one convicted felon has already asked for a new trial based on the mistake. It involves DNA reports for criminal cases that were missing the statistical weight, which shows the probability the DNA belongs to a certain person.  Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs reported the mistake in March and said 3 thousand reports from July 2009 through last October would be reviewed.
