Port Columbus Airfares Increasing

The U.S. Department of Transportation says the average airfare at Port Columbus was over 411 dollars in the fourth quarter, a 4.1 percent increase from the same period a year ago. The department says since the year 2000, the average fare has risen 31.4 percent, a rate that is more than twice the national average. The department says the increases are due to a healthy economy and increased passenger traffic. The average airfares in Ohio range from nearly 485 dollars at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Airport to 102 dollars at Rickenbacker Airport.
