Columbus City Council last night appointed a former council member to complete the term of a council member who announced her resignation earlier this year.
81-year-old Fran Ryan will complete the term of Michelle Mills, who resigned last month for failing to properly report on financial disclosure forms a trip she and other council member took at the expense of a city hall lobbyist. Ryan last served on council in 1977, and is former chair of the Franklin County Democratic Party and the Franklin County Board of Elections. Mills' term expires in January. Elizabeth Brown, the daughter of Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio, will run on the Democratic ticket for election to Mills' seat in November of next year.
