A U.S. Navy SEAL from northwest Ohio received the Medal of Honor at the White House on Monday. President Obama presented the nation's highest military award to Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator Edward Byers for rescuing an American physician being held hostage in a Taliban stronghold in Afghanistan in 2012.

The president says another member of Byers' SEAL Team Six died in the rescue mission.
