Ashland County Sheriff's Office

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey says the Ashland man charged with killing two women and kidnapping another last week has confessed to killing a woman in Marion County eleven years ago. Bailey says 40-year-old Shawn Grate stabbed a 26-year-old woman in 2005 because his mother did not receive the magazines the woman sold her.

Bailey says the remains of the unidentified victim were found in 2007, and Grate confessed last week.

Grate pleaded not guilty yesterday to murder and kidnapping charges. He's being held on one million dollars bond. Grate is also a person of interest in the murder of a Mansfield woman last year.
