Bond Set For Suspect Charged In Shooting Of Columbus Cop

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

Bond is set at two million dollars for the man accused of shooting a Columbus police officer earlier this week.

22-year-old Shawn Toney Junior has pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting an officer.  He was ordered into isolation because of publicity surrounding the shooting.  Narcotics officers were executing a search warrant at a South Burgess Avenue apartment house late Wednesday when police say Toney opened fire. During the exchange of gunfire, 61-year-old Bernard Cannady was also wounded. He was released from a hospital.
