Sidney Crosby and Scott Wilson scored third period goals to lead the Pittsburgh Penguins over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2 last night in game five of their best-of-seven opening round playoff series. The loss eliminates the Jackets from the post-season. Jackets coach John Tortorella says his team did not take advantage of multiple opportunities.
Pittsburgh will next play the winner of the Toronto-Washington series. The Jackets had the sixth-best regular season record in the NHL and scored a team-record 108 points this past season, but have yet to win a playoff series in three tries. The Penquins also eliminated the Jackets from the playoffs in 2014.
